Description: A comedic valentine to the theater For the Cavendishes, the "Royal Family" of Broadway, the show must go on. Set in 1920s Manhattan, this American classic (loosely based on the legendary Barrymore family) centers on three generations of actors, each at different stages in their careers. From an aging grande dame to a promising ingénue, together they confront a choice between secure, yet dull domesticity and an erratic, egocentric yet potentially fulfilling life on the stage. A brilliant, fast-paced comedy, The Royal Family is a masterfully written love letter to the Great White Way.

Description: Back by popular demand – now with added music! Nina Simone’s velvet voice was unafraid to sing lyrics that cut right to the truth. From the iconic “I Put a Spell on You” to “Feelin’ Good” to the protest song “Four Women” of the title, her music was a personal and political exploration branded in the kiln of the Civil Rights Movement. Simone’s lyrics weave a story of four women alienated from themselves and each other due to the color of their skin. Together, they sing their truth and rise triumphant — women proud “To Be Young, Gifted and Black.” “All I want is equality for my sister, my brother, my people and me…” — Nina Simone, “Mississippi Goddam”

Description: On Sneetch Beach, there’s a line in the sand—Star Bellies on one side, Plain Bellies on the other. That’s the way it is, was and will be. At least until the sneaky and greedy Sylvester Monkey McBean comes to town with his Star On machine. Suddenly, the difference between the haves and the have nots—those with stars and those without—isn’t so clear. What will the Sneetches do now? In this rousing and inventive musical adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ powerful parable about the surface things that divide us, it will take a courageous friendship between an unlikely pair of Sneetches to find the answers. This work is supported by a Theatre Commissioning and Production Initiative grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.

Description: Trouble brews when John interrupts a mugging and the hospital ends up with both his addresses, causing both the Streatham and Wimbledon police to investigate. John becomes hopelessly entangled in his attempts to explain himself to his two wives and two suspicious police officers, with unhelpful help from meddling neighbors and insistent reporters. This production is a one hour, abridged version of the play for the state one act competition, MACT*Fest. The audience will see the cast build their set in 10 minutes, perform the play in 60 minutes, and then tear down their set in 10 minutes. No admission will be charged, though donations to help offset the cost of taking the production to Marshall in March will be most welcome!
